Decomit Inhaler is indicated for the preventive management of asthma in adults and children, including mild, moderate, and severe cases. It contains beclometasone dipropionate, an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the lungs. Beclometasone dipropionate works by producing anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive effects in the lungs. While the exact mechanism of its anti-inflammatory action is not fully understood, corticosteroids are known to influence a wide range of cells and mediators involved in inflammation, including:

Beclometasone dipropionate is a pro-drug with low glucocorticoid receptor binding. It is metabolized by esterase enzymes into its active form, beclometasone-17-monopropionate (B-17-MP), which has potent topical anti-inflammatory effects. Clinical studies showed no histopathologic changes in the nasal mucosa after intranasal administration.

Decomit 250 Inhaler is not recommended for children
Hepatic or renal impairment: No dose adjustment required.
✔️ Administration
Correct inhaler use is critical for effectiveness. Improper use reduces medicine delivery to the lungs, decreasing efficacy.
Step-by-step instructions (National Asthma Guidelines):
- Remove the cap.
- Shake the inhaler at least six times.
- For new or unused inhalers, release one puff into the air to ensure function.
- Exhale fully and hold the inhaler upright.
- Place the mouthpiece between your teeth and seal your lips around it.
- Inhale slowly and deeply while pressing down firmly on the canister.
- Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for at least 10 seconds.
- If more than one puff is prescribed, wait 1 minute between puffs and repeat steps 4–7.
- Replace the cap and rinse your mouth after use.
Cleaning: Once a week, remove the canister, rinse plastic parts in warm water, dry thoroughly, and reassemble. Do not immerse the metal canister.
